County Finally Agrees to Provide Solution for Dangerous Intersection of Wilder and Lime Kiln Road in Wesley Hills

by M. C. Millman

Thanks to the efforts of Rockland County Legislator Aron Wieder, the dangerous intersection of Wilder and Lime Kiln Road in Wesley Hills is finally getting the attention it deserves.

A four-way stop will be installed at the crossroads after decades of accidents at the treacherous location. The four-way stop sign would seem to be a no-brainer at an intersection that has seen as many accidents as this one, but the challenge was getting the County to move forward.

"This cross street has been a trouble spot for decades," says one longtime Monsey resident. "Accidents have been happening right here for years."

The four-way stop is only the beginning, though, according to Village of Wesley Hills Mayor Marshall Katz, who reached out to the legislator for help. The county plans on beginning work on the construction of a roundabout within the next few months in order to keep the traffic flowing and to make the location even safer with minimal obstruction to traffic flow.

"This has been a terrible intersection of the Village," Mayor Marshall Katz says. "There has been accident after accident every two months, and we have been working to try and get the County to let us put a four-way stop sign here for many, many years, and Aron finally got it done for us."

"People told me they have been trying to get a four-way stop put in here for years," Tziporah Cohen tells Rockland Daily a few months after her car was completely totaled at the intersection. "I'm happy to hear that something is finally going to be done so no one else has to go through what I went through after my accident there last month."

"I'm grateful to County Executive Ed Day for moving ahead with this," Legislator Wieder shares exclusively with Rockland Daily. "This project is one that will save many, many lives for years to come, and I am pleased Mayor Katz made me aware of it so that I could play my part in creating a safer road for our residents."
