Community Notice: Emergency Drill Planned for Sunday

By Y.M. Lowy

On Sunday morning, the West Haverstraw, Haverstraw, and Thiells Fire Departments will be holding a full-scale emergency response drill simulating a train derailment.

The exercise will take place across several locations in the Villages of West Haverstraw and Haverstraw, including Delloro Street, Joseph Street, the Key Bank area on Route 9W, Pecks Pond, Robbins Court, and the train trestle near Minisceongo Creek. Fire crews and emergency responders will be actively operating in these areas, along with drone units flying overhead as part of the training.

Delloro Street will be closed off at Joseph Street from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Water pressure in surrounding areas may be temporarily affected, and some discoloration is possible due to hydrant use.

Residents are reminded that this is only a drill.
