Communicated: Unprecedented Number of Rabbonim Join Final Election Push for Senator Weber, Citing Torah Values and Record of Standing With the Community
“Our values are not for sale, and our community’s future must never be reduced to a funding decision.”
With that declaration, 18 prominent Rabbonim from across Rockland County issued a joint Kol Korai endorsing State Senator Bill Weber and Congressman Mike Lawler for reelection, along with Bruce Blakeman for Governor, citing their record of standing with the community and defending the values and freedoms important to Orthodox Jewish families.
The Rabbonim stress that voting is “a mitzvah, a chiyuv, and a responsibility,” urging every eligible voter to participate in the November 3 election. Their letter emphasizes the importance of protecting Torah values, religious freedom, parental rights, Yeshiva education, public safety, and the long-term well-being of the community.
The Kol Korai warns about the potential consequences of a veto-proof Democratic supermajority in Albany and expresses concern over the growing influence of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA). The Rabbonim argue that these developments could have serious implications for religious freedom, parental rights, Yeshiva education, and public safety.
The letter also emphasizes the importance of maintaining meaningful checks and balances in state government, warning that decisions made in Albany have lasting consequences for families, schools, neighborhoods, and future generations.
The Rabbonim caution against evaluating candidates solely on the basis of government grants or financial assistance to individual institutions. Instead, they urge consideration of the broader interests of the community, including the protection of religious liberties, family values, and educational independence.
The letter warned against supporting candidates simply because they promise financial benefits to particular institutions and instead encouraged voters to consider the greater good of the country and the long-term welfare of the community.
With Hakaras Hatov, we recognize and appreciate those who have stood by our community,” the Kol Korai declares.
The Rabbonim specifically recognize the endorsed candidates for what they describe as their record of standing firmly against Antisemitism, supporting the safety and security of Acheinu Bnei Yisroel, and demonstrating their commitment to the community through actions rather than promises.
