Chestnut Ridge Expresses Gratitude to Senator Bill Weber for Sidewalk Funding
Senator Bill Weber, joined by New York State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt and Rockland County Legislator Joel Friedman, announced funding for new sidewalks along Williams Road in the Village of Chestnut Ridge. The funding is part of Senator Weber's 2026 discretionary CREST funding.
Chestnut Ridge Mayor Sam Presti, Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose, and Trustees Shmuli Fromovitz, Paul Van Alstyne, and Grant Valentine expressed their gratitude on behalf of the Village upon their acceptance of the ceremonial check for $75,000. The funding will support sidewalk improvements along Williams Road, an investment aimed at improving pedestrian safety and making the area more accessible for residents.
The project reflects Senator Weber’s ongoing effort to address local infrastructure needs and improve safety for pedestrians traveling along village roads. The announcement also highlighted cooperation between state, county, and village officials in securing resources for community improvements.
“Pedestrian safety is one of our top priorities,” Senator Weber told those assembled at the Village, “and sidewalks are one of the most effective ways to make our roads safer.”
New York State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt, who traveled from Buffalo to attend the announcement, thanked the local officials in attendance and praised Senator Weber for his dedication to the community.
“Senator Bill Weber is a great senator for this area and this community,” Ortt said, emphasizing that Weber fought to ensure funding was included in the state budget to benefit local residents. Ortt noted that Weber works tirelessly to advocate for his constituents, both legislatively and financially, bringing hard-earned taxpayer dollars back to Rockland County for projects that make a meaningful difference like sidewalks.
“This would not have happened without the advocacy of Senator Bill Weber,” Ortt said. “That is why I’m here, to thank him and to support him in delivering this money.”
“I want to thank Senator Bill Weber for securing $75,000 in funding for desperately needed sidewalks on Williams Road,” Village Trustee Shmuli Fromovitz shared. “This grant will go a long way toward improving pedestrian safety in the area and addressing concerns that so many residents have raised. We truly appreciate Senator Weber’s partnership with our Village and his continued efforts to improve the safety and quality of life for all Village residents.”
Chestnut Ridge Deputy Mayor Chaim Rose thanked Senator Weber for securing the grant and helping ensure the Village has the resources needed to improve pedestrian safety and expand sidewalks for residents. “It will definitely go to good use,” he said.
Chestnut Ridge Mayor Sam Presti thanked Senator Weber for his continued support of the Village. “It is an honor and a privilege to have friends in Albany like Senator Weber,” Presti said. He expressed his appreciation for the attention Senator Weber gives to Chestnut Ridge residents and his commitment to helping keep the community safe, adding that the Village looks forward to continuing its strong relationship with Albany.
