Chaverim Connects the Dots - Uniting Owner With Missing Tefillin

by Chana Weinman
After a vehicle was stolen out of a Monsey driveway last Motzei Shabbos, Chaverim was called to assist.
The next day, Chaverim received a call from a sharp-eyed Monseyite who had found a tefillin shel yad lying on the side of Route 59. Chaverim immediately jumped into action. If there was a tefillin shel yad on the side of the road, it made logical sense that there should be tefillin shel rosh as well. Going on that presumption, Chaverim volunteers searched the area until they found the tefillin bag with the owner's name. That was when dispatchers realized that the name on the tefillin bag matched the owner of the stolen vehicle from the night before.
After searching some more in the woods next to the road, the tefillin shel rosh was also found.
"Baruch Hashem, we found all the parshios," a Chaverim member shares with Rockland Daily. "The tefillin were wet but fully intact."
The stolen car's owner had no clue that he would ever see his tefillin again, let alone his car.
As for the car, Chaverim managed to track it to Newark, where it was recovered for the owner, but minus many parts.
