Voters across New York’s 17th Congressional District came out today to cast their ballots in the Democratic primary for Congress.

After polls closed at 9:00 p.m., Cait Conley was declared the winner, securing the Democratic nomination in the race for the 17th Congressional District.

Conley defeated a five-candidate field that included Beth Davidson, Effie Guadalupe Phillips-Staley, John Cappello, and Michael Sacks.

Conley, an Army veteran and former national security official, ran a campaign focused on government accountability, healthcare, affordability, and protecting democracy.

The 17th District includes all of Rockland and Putnam counties, along with parts of Westchester and Dutchess counties.

Conley will now move on to the general election, where she will face Republican Congressman Mike Lawler in what is expected to be a competitive race this November.
