This afternoon, word broke of a historic call in which the President of the United States called the Skverer Rebbe to ask for the support of his chassidim in the upcoming election, especially with regard to Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY).
Reportedly, the President went on to add at the conclusion of the call, “You will have an open door to my administration,” as he made it a point to mention that he works closely with the present elected officials and that they have an open door to his office should there be anything they need.
The phone call lasted about fifteen minutes.
Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney is fighting for his re-election against Assemblyman Mike Lawler, his Republican opponent, who has made strong inroads in the Orthodox Jewish community in Rockland County and beyond.
Maloney, the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, is running for re-election, but in a new district after the 2020 census caused new district maps to be drawn in New York.
The race has been rated as a toss-up by reknown political commentator Dave Wasserman, although Biden carried the district over Trump by 10% in the 2020 election.
