Bikes 'n Bridges

Bikes 'n Bridges

By Idy Perl

The sun is out and people are once again shlepping their bikes out of forgotten corners to get some fresh air (and exercise).

There are many beautiful bike trails and bridge pathways for bicyclists to take advantage of the stunning water views. The bike lanes on most bridges have specific hours of operation, which are listed below so you know where and when to take your bikes out for a spin.

George Washington Bridge

The path is open between 6:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., seven days a week, with exceptions for construction. The north sidewalk entrance can be accessed near the corner of West 180th Street and Cabrini Boulevard.

Goethals Bridge

The new Goethals Bridge path is open between 6:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., seven days a week.  The pathway can be accessed via Forest Avenue and Gulf Avenue on Staten Island, NY, and via Clifton Street and Cole Place in Elizabeth, NJ.

Bayonne Bridge

The Bayonne Bridge bike pathway is open 24/7 and can be accessed at John F. Kennedy Blvd. between West 6th and West 7th Streets in Bayonne, NJ; and on Trantor Place south of Innis Street on Staten Island, NY.
