Big Rail Improvements Coming to Hudson Valley

Governor Kathy Hochul has unveiled a major plan to improve Hudson Valley rail service, making travel faster, safer, and more reliable. Announced during her 2025 State of the State address, the proposal includes significant upgrades to Metro-North’s Hudson Line, which connects New York City to Poughkeepsie.
The plan also emphasizes climate resilience, signaling upgrades near Yonkers, and exploring new connections like one-seat rides to Manhattan’s West Side and a third track on the Harlem Line. A new “super-express” train will shorten trips to under 90 minutes.
“This investment will bring faster, better service for commuters and strengthen the Hudson Valley’s connection to New York City,” said Governor Hochul. Local leaders praised the initiative, which will also support the region’s economy and create more travel opportunities for residents.
