BDE: Shocking Passing of R’ Avrohom Moshe (Avremi) Melohn

Yitzy Fried
We regret to inform you of the untimely petirah of R’ Avremi
Melohn of the West Side and Monsey. He suffered a heart attack in Monsey this
afternoon, and was sadly niftar soon thereafter. He was in his 60’s.
The niftar was the son of the legendary Joseph and Martha
Melohn, names that are so familiar to the community from their incredible
philanthropy, and for the philanthropy that was continued after their passing
in their memory.
Following in their footsteps, Avremi “had a heart of gold,”
according to those who knew him, and “gave millions to tzedakah, often out of
the limelight.”
The Melohn’s were pillars of the West Side community, and
the niftar was likewise a prominent figure of the community, davening for
decades in the Boyaner Shtiebel, and was deeply involved in supporting the West
Side Community Kollel.
In recent years, the Melohn’s moved to the Forshay area,
where R’ Avremi davened at Kehillas Bais Avraham and was once again a pillar of
the community. He supported the mikvah in the area, as well as donating the
Hatzolah garage in Forshay.
He tragically suffered a massive heart attack today, and was
niftar in Monsey.
The levaya will take place at Ohr Samayach in Monsey at 5:30
today, giving a kovod acharon to an individual who has given so much to the
community with so much selflessness over so many years.
Yehi zichro baruch.
