BDE: Reb Aaron Feder, z"l, Pillar of Chessed

It is with deep sadness that we report on the passing of Reb Aaron Feder, a devoted askan in the community. He was 52 years of age, and had struggled with an illness in recent years. 

The niftar was born in Crown Heights to his father, Reb Mordechai Feder, and was raised toward a life of chessed and caring for others. His parents remained in Crown Heights long after the chassidim left solely to be there for people who needed a place to eat and sleep. The niftar continued the chessed works of his parents, and his home in New Square served as a place for all these needy people to find warmth and hospitality. 

He worked for the Renewal organization for a number of years where he promoted kidney donation, especially in the Skverer chassidus which has an inordinate amount of kidney donors, and assisted countless people in recieving their lifeline through generous and selfless kidney donors. 

For many years, no one knew that Aaron had himself donated a kidney. He only allowed it to be publicized because it would encourage others to give, and indeed it did. 

He was sadly stricken with a devastating illness a number of years ago and struggled valiantly for his life. 

He sadly passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning, leaving behind a devastated family and an admiring community. 

The levaya will take place 3:30pm in New Square, and kevurah will take place in Skver as well.
