BDE: Rabbi Zecharia Weitz, z"l, Monsey Community Askan
YS GOLD
We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Zecharia Weitz, z"l, a lifelong Monsey resident. He was 61 years of age.
The niftar was the son of Rabbi Aaron Weitz, z"l, the founder of the legendary ECHO organization which he founded at the behest of his rebbi, Rav Yaakov Kamenetztky, also a Monsey resident.
The niftar was devoted with heart and soul to the work begun by his father, and served as an askan in the organization for many years. He was known in the community as a person who can be turned to in times of need.
In addition, acquaintances recall a man who was beloved to everyone, but just as importantly, he was an ahuv l'Makom. "He was an incredible medakdek b'halachah, and he knew halachah extremely well. He was a talmid of some of the greatest roshei yeshiva in our generation, and he absorbed a love for Torah that lasted for the rest of his life, "recalled one admirer.
Despite all of his accomplishments, he was exceedingly humble, and an incredible, soft-spoken ba'al middos.
He was sadly niftar Wednesday morning, and the levaya will take place at Ohr Someach, 244 Route 306, at 1:30.
Yehi zichro baruch.
