It is with deep regret that we inform you of the passing of
R’ Osher Tauber, an ardent Viznitzer chossid from Monsey who was snatched away
in the prime of his life. He was a young twenty years of age.
The niftar was the son of ybl”ch, Reb Yaakov Amrom and the
grandson of Rav Ezriel Tauber, zt”l, and belonged to the Viznitz-Monsey
chassidus.
“He spent his entire life within the Viznitzer system—from
the youngest age, for his entire life— and was truly the cream of the crop of
our chassidus,” said one Viznitzer chossid.
He was tragically stricken with the dreaded machalah soon
after his wedding, and valiantly battled the disease with everything he had,
undergoing treatment at a Texas medical center in recent months. Throughout his
terrible ordeal, he remained strong, and his sterling character shone
forth—accepting this nisyaon from above with love.
“Whenever he would come to the beis medrash for
tefillos and tischen, and to learn in Kollel… it was as though he was not going
through the worst ordeal imaginable,” recalls an acquaintance. “He transcended
this nisayon with flying colors, despite how bleak things were.”
The passing of R’ Osher is a terrible shock to the entire
Viznitzer chassidus and to all who knew and admired him.
The levaya will take place in Monsey late today. We will
update this story when the time become available.
