Bais Shifra Miriam Suspends Classes Amidst Financial Crisis

Bais Shifra Miriam Suspends Classes Amidst Financial Crisis

By Idy Perl

On Sunday night the Bais Shifra Miriam administration informed parents that they would be suspending all classes due to an ongoing financial crisis. The announcement left their nearly 300 students in limbo mid-school year.

Bais Shifra Miriam, which is under the leadership of Harav Hagoen Chaim Flohr, doesn't accept any funding from the state so as not to be beholden to any regulatory guidelines from the NYSED. This has caused increasing financial difficulties over the past few years, and has now reached a point at which it can no longer continue operating.

The parent body of the school and local askanim are working around the clock to find a solution and establish financial stability, and hope to reopen the school's doors in the coming days and allow their students to resume learning.
