Assisted Suicide Legislation Passes New York State Senate Again

Assisted Suicide Legislation Passes New York State Senate Again

The New York State Senate once again passed legislation legalizing assisted suicide, despite significant opposition from across the state. In a notable break from the radical majority, six Democratic senators, including Borough Park Senator Sam Sutton, crossed party lines to vote against the bill along with all Republican state senators.

Senator Bill Weber spoke forcefully against the legislation, reflecting the clear, overwhelming concerns of the vast majority of his constituents. He warned that the bill raises serious ethical, moral, and public policy issues, particularly for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations who could be placed at risk under this proposal in their darkest moments.
