Assemblymen Carroll and Wieder Secure $250,000 for Village of Pomona
POMONA — The Village of Pomona is set to receive a combined $250,000 in state funding for parks and road improvements, secured by Assemblyman Patrick Carroll and Assemblyman Aron Wieder.
The funding is divided between two major projects. Assemblyman Carroll, who represents the Haverstraw portion of Pomona in the 96th Assembly District, secured $150,000 to rebuild the village tennis court and construct a new pickleball court. Assemblyman Wieder, who represents the Ramapo portion of the village in the 97th District, secured $100,000 for repaving village roads.
The investment will address two of the village's top priorities — upgraded recreation facilities for families and safer local roads.
"Investing in our parks is investing in the quality of life of every family in Pomona," said Assemblyman Carroll. "A rebuilt tennis court and a brand-new pickleball court will give residents of all ages a place to stay active and come together for years to come. I am proud to have secured this commitment, and I will keep working hand in hand with Mayor Fuchs and the Village Board to meet Pomona's needs."
"Safe roads are not a luxury. They are a basic responsibility we owe every resident," said Assemblyman Wieder. "This $100,000 commitment will make a real and lasting difference in the daily lives of Pomona families. Securing the resources our communities need is my top priority, and I will continue to bring Albany's resources back home."
Mayor Ilan Fuchs thanked both Assemblymen for their continued support of the village and noted their track record of delivering for Pomona. He credited Assemblyman Wieder for helping the village secure an ARPA grant last year that funded a new walking and running path in Burgess Meredith Park, created a safe place for children to ride bicycles, and resolved long-standing drainage issues in the park.
"On behalf of the residents of Pomona, I extend our sincere gratitude to Assemblyman Carroll and Assemblyman Wieder," said Mayor Fuchs. "Assemblyman Carroll's commitment to our new tennis and pickleball courts will benefit families across our village, and Assemblyman Wieder's commitment to our roads will make our streets safer for everyone."
Fuchs added that both lawmakers have earned the support of the village leadership.
"These are proven leaders who consistently come through for our village," Fuchs said. "That is why both Assemblyman Carroll and Assemblyman Wieder have the full endorsement of the Pomona Village Board in the upcoming election. We look forward to continuing to work with them in Albany on behalf of the residents of Pomona."
Work on both projects is expected to begin in the spring, after the winter season, once state funds are released.
