Victim Of Fatal Car Accident Identified By Police

The victim of the fatal car accident that occured on Sunday has been identified as 45-year-old resident of Spring Valley John Peralta. 

Peralta was assaulted and rendered unconscious before being struck by a taxi in a parking lot a 64 East Eckerson Road at around 1am on Sunday, August 3rd. Ramapo Police officers responded to the incident after being flagged down by several people near the scene and found Peralta stuck under the taxi. With the help of bystanders, they were able to extricate him and paramedics transported him to Nyack Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. 

The driver of the taxi, a 32-year-old female from Spring Valley, cooperated with the police at the scene and was confirmed not be under the influence while operating the vehicle. She has been charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation for driving with a suspended license. 

The police have also identified the suspect who assaulted Peralta before the car accident. He was identified as Jose Narciso Lopez-Ayesta, 43, also of Spring Valley, and has been arrested by the Ramapo Police Investigations Division and charged with third-degree assault.
