Temporary Traffic Lights Installed On Route 306 For Purim

By Idy Perl
This year the Town of Ramapo is taking a new approach to Purim traffic.
In past years the various traffic changes that were implemented around Monsey made it more difficult to get around and caused extreme traffic jams. A lot of that traffic happened on and around Route 306, where turning onto or off Route 306 was limited.
The Town is listening to the feedback of local residents and community leaders, and has decided to forgo the usual alternative traffic plans. Instead, temporary traffic lights have been installed at the corner of Ralph Blvd and Route 306, as well as by the corner of Blauvelt Rd and Route 306. Extra police patrol will still be in the area, but the traffic lights will hopefully ease the flow of traffic and allow drivers to get to their destinations without too much delay.
"The Town has been working with our police, community leaders and our residents to come up with a traffic plan that works for everyone," Town Supervisor Michael Specht tells Rockland Daily. "These discussions lead us to come up with a scaled back plan for this year that we hope will enhance traffic flow and safety."
