Spring Valley Police Sergeant Brendan Dowling Promoted to Lieutenant

The Spring Valley Village Board of Trustees approved the promotion of Brendan Dowling from Police Sergeant to Police Lieutenant during Tuesday’s board meeting, advancing him into the leadership ranks of the Spring Valley Police Department.

Dowling fills the lieutenant position previously held by John “Jack” Bosworth, who recently retired after 36 years in law enforcement, including 32 years with the Spring Valley Police Department. Bosworth served as both a lieutenant and, most recently, deputy chief before his retirement.

The promotion is part of the department’s ongoing leadership transition following Bosworth’s departure. Dowling assumes the lieutenant position that became available with Bosworth’s retirement, while the deputy chief position remains vacant.

Dowling has served the Spring Valley Police Department as a sergeant and now joins the department’s command staff as a police lieutenant.

Village officials congratulated Lt. Dowling on his promotion and wished him continued success as he begins his new role serving the residents of Spring Valley.
