Rockland Responds: Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht Responds to Question About Missing Israeli Flag

Can the supervisor tell us why the town took down the Israeli flag hanging outside the Town of Ramapo municipal building? I know it was stolen once, but it was put back up after that, and I thought the Town committed to keeping it up until the hostages were home safe. How did our Town forget so fast?

Sincerely,

Ramapo Resident

Dear Resident,

Thank you for this question. We did not remove the Israeli flag. The flag, which replaced the one that had been stolen,  became damaged by heavy winds and came off the building during the recent storm.

Yesterday morning, we reinstalled a new Israeli flag outside Town Hall to continue our solidarity with the Israeli people and our demand that all of the hostages return safely to their homes and families.

We will never forget the victims of October 7 and the hostages held by Hamas. In addition to our display of the Israeli flag, we have hung posters of every hostage on the hallways inside Town Hall and will keep them up to remember their plight until they are free.

Michael Specht, Town of Ramapo Supervisor
