Rockland County Launches Threat Assessment Team
By Idy Perl
Last week, Rockland County launched the Threat Assessment Team, a first of its kind department to prevent violence in the community.
The Threat Assessment Team, or RC-TAM, is a collaboration between law enforcement, mental health experts, educators, and various community partners to identify threats early and be proactive about community safety. They will act as an advisory team to develop interventions and strategies for various agencies so they can better mitigate threats such as domestic terrorism or targeted acts of violence such as hate crimes and school shootings.
By sharing expertise between various agencies, they will be able to better protect the public while also helping the person at risk.
Local residents can report a threat to RC-TAM by calling their confidential hotline at 845-708-7400, or submitting a form on their website at www.rctam.org/report-a-threat.
