Ramapo Officials Preparing for Tuesday Morning Snowstorm
By Yisroel R.
Local officials across Ramapo say they are closely monitoring a potential snowstorm expected to arrive early Tuesday morning. Forecasts indicate that measurable snowfall is likely, and they note that the total amounts of snowfall may still change as updated predictions come in.
Ramapo Highway Superintendent Fred Brinn said his department has been tracking the system and is prepared for the season’s first winter event.
“We have been monitoring the weather forecast for the past 24 hours regarding a snow event that is predicted to begin early Tuesday morning around 3–4 AM, with expected accumulations at this time of approximately 1 to 2 inches. Please note that weather forecasts change periodically, and that number can, of course, be affected by any revised forecast.
“The Highway Department has been diligently working on all of our plow trucks and related equipment for the past several weeks in anticipation of the winter months now upon us, and we anticipate no problems with this first storm of the season. In addition, unfortunately, due to Sunday’s rain, we were unable to brine the roads on Sunday. Therefore, we plan to begin brining the primary roads early Monday morning, and we hope to get most roads done by the time the storm sets in.”
Hatzoloh also confirmed they are preparing for the storm.
“Hatzoloh is monitoring the potential storm and is making preparations as usual to be fully ready to help out wherever needed. People should feel comfortable and confident knowing that our members will be ready to respond in the event of any weather.”
Town Supervisor Michael Specht echoed that the town is ready and reminded residents of important parking rules.
“We are monitoring the weather, and the Highway Department is prepared to deal with the first potential storm of this season. I’d like to remind our residents that street parking is not allowed in unincorporated Ramapo when snowfall is predicted, so please make sure to move your car off the street so our plows can get through. If you live in a village, please check your village’s parking laws, as they may be different.”
Spring Valley Trustee Sruly Eisenbach urged residents to let road crews do their work safely.
“It is very important, and I can’t stress how crucial it is, that whenever it snows, during the snow or after the snow, people should stay off the road and let the Department of Public Works do their job and not get in their way.”
With the first storm of the season approaching, officials say preparation and cooperation will be key. Residents are encouraged to remain cautious, stay updated on weather changes, and allow crews to work safely and efficiently.
