Metro-North Announces Details of Service Enhancements for Orange and Rockland County Routes

By Rockland Daily Staff
Today, Metro-North Railroad unveiled a comprehensive set of service enhancements slated for introduction in the summer of 2024, with a primary focus on enhancing connectivity and convenience for commuters traversing between Orange and Rockland Counties and New York City.
Building on Governor Kathy Hochul's recent announcement of a pioneering pilot program geared towards improving access to New York City for residents of Orange and Rockland Counties, the MTA has provided further insight into this groundbreaking initiative.
Under the pilot, they will begin weekend service on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry, reduce monthly UniTicket fares by up to 90 percent on the ferries and buses that cross the Hudson River, and reduce parking rates by 25 percent for Orange and Rockland County residents using Metro-North's garage in North White Plains.
The pilot is expected to run through Veterans Day.
Weekend service on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry:
Starting Saturday, May 25, the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry will run on weekends from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Currently, the ferry only runs during weekday rush hours.

Monthly UniTicket discounts
Starting in July, Metro-North will reduce the fares for monthly UniTickets on the Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry, Newburgh-Beacon Ferry, Newburgh-Beacon Shuttle bus, and Hudson Link bus. Monthly UniTickets are add-ons to Metro-North monthly rail tickets that allow you to ride local transit to or from the station at a significant discount over buying separate monthly passes.
The new, reduced monthly UniTicket fares will be:
Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry: $13.75, reduced from $43.75
Newburgh-Beacon Ferry: $1, reduced from $14.50
Newburgh-Beacon Shuttle: $1, reduced from $9
Hudson Link: $30, reduced from $60

North White Plains parking discount:
Rockland and Orange County residents will receive a 25 percent discount on monthly parking at Metro-North's garage at North White Plains Station, which is served by the Harlem Line.
