Local Officials Resolve Permit Issue For Golden Taste's New Facility

By Idy Perl

This morning, Assemblyman Aron Wieder and Senator Bill Weber met the owners and staff of Golden Taste at their new facility, located at 585 Chestnut Ridge Road, after Wieder's office, in coordination with Senator Bill Weber and Congressman Mike Lawler, helped them resolve a permit issue to allow the facility to begin operations.

Recent State DOT regulation changes have complicated Veolia’s requests to dig on state roads, causing delays for customers. Wieder and Weber are working on a long term solution to ease the regulations, but some local customers are stuck with ongoing construction projects.

Golden Taste recently completed building their new facility, but was unable to get a permit for water service. Through proactive coordination and meetings with the State DOT and Veolia, the collective efforts of local officials secured a temporary solution, allowing Veolia to proceed and get the business online.

"I am thrilled for the Golden Taste family, who can now begin using their facility in the district," Assemblyman Wieder said. "I remain committed to assisting constituents with any issue, big or small, to deliver timely solutions."

“I am proud to congratulate the Perlmutter family and Golden Taste on their outstanding business growth," Senator Bill Weber said. "They are a true benefit to Rockland County taxpayers and consumers. My office was pleased to assist Golden Taste in navigating regulatory matters with state agencies and utility providers, helping ensure today’s milestone became a reality.”

“I’m glad to have worked with our state legislators to reach a resolution that solves the ongoing issue between state DOT and utility companies to help get Golden Taste's new facility up and running,” said Congressman Mike Lawler. “I look forward to being able to reach a long-term solution to ease the current process.”
