IN TRIBUTE: Yosef Raphael (Joseph) Kurek Beloved and Well-Known Owner of Monsey Service Station

This past week, the Monsey community lost a pillar of chessed, and a well-known personality who did so much for the community. Joseph Kurek was 75 years of age.

The niftar was the proprietor of Monsey Service Station on Route 59, and was devoted with heart and soul to so many Monsey families.

One person who knew him and admired him deeply recalls: "My husband is in kollel for 54 years, and I drive people around in the community to support the family. Yossie knew that I needed my car on the road in order to earn a living, and always made sure to get me back on the road as soon as possible."

He was handy and gifted, and always extended credit to people who couldn't pay.

The levaya took place on Tuesday, and many from the Monsey community came out to pay tribute to Mr. Kurek.
