Governor Hochul announced today that more than $7.4 million in federal funding from the federal Emergency Management Performance Grant provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be awarded to county emergency management agencies throughout New York State.
The funding will go toward the development, planning, training, and implementation of disaster readiness.
"We continue to strengthen our local emergency response efforts and ensure our partners across every level are prepared for whatever disaster comes our way,” Governor Hochul said. “My top priority is keeping New Yorkers safe, and with today’s investment in our local emergency management agencies, we are building a safer, stronger New York for everyone."
In order to receive funding, counties must develop new initatives or projects that will strengthen their disaster response readiness. Rockland County is set to receive $124,102.
