Exploring Rockland: The Premishlan Shul
By Idy Perl
One year ago, around Shabbos Nachmu, the central Monsey area was gifted with a new shul—and not just another run of the mill shul, but a magnificent Torah and tefillah center that is truly one of a kind.
Since opening its doors one year ago, it hasn't taken long for the Premishlan shul on Stephen Place to become a hub of davening and Torah. Thousands of daily attendees choose this shul as their second home, and the sounds of minyanim and learning can be heard throughout the day.
The shul is under the guidance of Hagoen Harav Shia Leifer, the founder and mastermind of the gigantic Oiz Vehudor seforim publishers. The bustling shul has over 10 daily shacharis minyanim, and mincha and maariv minyanim every 15 minutes in the evening. As one can guess, the shul's shelves contain a huge quantity of the Oiz Vehudr siddurim and seforim for everyone to enjoy.
The interior of the shul, with its dark wood and gold accents, is one of the most magnificent in town. The grand heichel hatorah, with its jam-packed shelves of seforim of every kind, is an oasis of Torah for anyone who wants to sit and learn.
The shul also boasts a beautiful mikvah and Simcha hall, which add to its magnificence and position as the center hub for the entire neighborhood.
