District Attorney Tom Walsh Announces 94 Guns Turned In At Gun Buyback Event

Attorney’s Office community gun buyback event that was held in collaboration with the Town of Haverstraw Police Department on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Village Hall, in Haverstraw, NY.
The Rockland District Attorney’s Office was joined by Haverstraw Town Supervisor Howard Phillips, Village of Haverstraw Mayor Michael Kohut, Deputy Mayor Gil Carlevaro, RC Legislator Jay Hood, and Town of Haverstraw Police Chief John Gould.
Saturday’s gun buyback event resulted in 94 guns being turned in, including 65 handguns, 8 assault rifles and 21 rifles/shotguns.
District Attorney Walsh said: “It was a great success. I am very pleased with the number of guns collected this weekend at our gun buyback event in Haverstraw. Every one of the guns collected on
Saturday is a step in the right direction to reduce gun violence and ensure the safety of our citizens. A sincere thank you to the Chief John Gould and the Town of Haverstraw Police Department for partnering with my office in this endeavor, and thank you to all who participated in the event.”
