Bizarre Incident: Man Attempts to Fake Car Accident on West Street
By Rockland Daily Staff
Yesterday, an unusual incident occurred on West Street when a man pretended to be hit by a car.
On video cameras from a nearby residence, the man is seen waiting for the right moment. As a white vehicle approached at a slow pace, he deliberately walked in front of it and then lay down, attempting to stage an accident.
Rockland Daily spoke with the driver, who shared their experience: "When I saw him down in front of my car, I immediately stopped the vehicle and ran out. The guy looked unconscious, possibly dead. I called Hatzalah and the police right away, and they responded extremely fast as a reported pedestrian struck. When they arrived, the guy just picked himself up, happy and healthy, and ran away. They tried chasing him to see what he wanted or if he needed help but lost him."
Footage obtained by Rockland Daily shows the moment of the fake accident, when the guy of the white vehicle runs out to call for help. The video clearly depicts that the man didn't even have any actual contact with the vehicle.
It remains unknown whether the individual intended to prank, scam, or had other motives.
