BDE: Rav Yosef Rosen, zt"l, Rosh Yeshiva in Skver

We regret to inform you of the passing of Rav Yosef Rosen, zt"l, the Skverer Rosh Yeshiva who shaped thousands of talmidim throughout his tenure as a marbitz Torah in the shtetl. He was in his 80's. 

The Rosh Yeshiva was a talmid of Rav Yitzchok Koppelman, zt"l, and he began his career of harbotzas Torah as a maggid shiur in the Skverer Yeshiva in New Square, having been appointed to this position by the previous Skverer Rebbe, zt"l, and later became the Rosh Yeshiva. 

He was a deeply admired figure in the eyes of his many talmidim, and in the Skverer chassidus more generally, on account of his positon as Rosh Yeshiva of the central yeshiva of the chassidus. He published a number of seforim on a number of Torah topics which were well-recieved in the Torah world. 

He will long be remembered by his countless talmidim, and by Skverer chassidim around the world. 

He was weak and unwell in recent months, but neverthless made the effort to attend a special event for donors to the new shul in Skver. Sadly, he was no longer able to attend the historic hachnosas sefer Torah last week, and returned his soul to its Maker on Tuesday afternoon. 

Levaye Update: The Levaye of Reb Yosef Rosen Z"l, Rosh Yeshivas Skver, will take place 4pm in front of the Skver Rebbe's house, followed by Tahara and a Levaye before Kevurah in the Skver Beis Hachaim.

He is remembered for his incredible hasmodoh, never stopping to learn Torah day and night.
