Assemblymember Aron Wieder Honors Heroes, Builds Partnerships, and Expands Constituent Access
Assemblymember Aron Wieder (D-97th District) maintained a robust schedule of community recognition, intergovernmental coordination, and direct constituent services over the past week, reinforcing his commitment to responsive representation in Rockland County.
The week began Sunday, October 26, with Wieder addressing the Jewish War Veterans’ 79th Annual Breakfast at the New City Jewish Center, where he thanked veterans for their service to the nation.That same day, he attended the Hillcrest Fire Company’s Annual Fire Prevention Open House, presenting a New York State Assembly citation to the all-volunteer department for its exemplary public-safety record.On National First Responders Day (October 28), staff from Wieder’s office visited every law-enforcement agency in the 97th District to deliver individualized Assembly citations commending officers for their daily protection of residents.
Wednesday featured back-to-back strategy sessions:
At Rockland Works headquarters in Nyack, Wieder met Executive Director Shannon Hargrove and Deputy Director Richard Gore to align job-training and placement initiatives more closely with district needs.
Later, on the Orangeburg campus of Dominican University New York, he joined university President Joe Mirto and Rockland County Director of Public Policy Steve Powers for a discussion on how county resources can address the hazardous Western Highway crosswalk at the campus entrance.
Also on Wednesday, Chief of Staff Shlomo Kertzner presented Orange & Rockland Utilities Corporate Affairs Manager Matthew Mariconi with an Assembly citation honoring his recent YMCA Community Service Award and his ongoing collaboration in resolving utility-assistance cases for Rockland families.
Constituent access reached new highs with two pop-up district offices in four days:
Thursday, October 30 – Community Outreach Center, Monsey
Assemblymember Wieder personally greeted more than 30 residents seeking guidance on DMV, housing, and state-agency matters.
Sunday, November 2 – Finkelstein Memorial Library, Spring Valley
Chief of Staff Kertzner and district aides assisted another 30+ constituents with benefit applications, senior services, and related inquiries.
“Every mobile office is a promise kept: government that comes to you,” Wieder said. “Whether it’s a veterans’ breakfast or a library table, we’re here to listen and deliver.”
