Aron Wieder Sworn In To NYS Assembly

Last night Aron Wieder was sworn into the New York State Assembly in a ceremony held at the Rockland Community College. Hundreds of people were in attendance at the ceremony, including family members, multiple community leaders and elected officials such Councilman Kalman Yeger and Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein. 

The event was started by Rabbi Yosef Greenwald and emceed by David Greenfield, the CEO of Met Council, who praised Wieder’s dedication to public service. New York State Attorney General Letitia James was the keynote speaker and commended Wieder’s efforts to combat discrimination. 

Aron Wieder started his his public office career back in 2008 as a member on the East Ramapo school board. When he progressed to Rockland County Legislator he became well known for his fiscal responsibilty and focus on community needs. 

In his speech last night Wieder expressed gratitude and pledged to address economic challenges, rising crime, and infrastructure needs in the 97th Assembly District. He took the oath of office on a Chumash that survived the Holocaust and that belongs to his grandmother, who is a Holocaust survivor herself, as a symbol of strength and resilience in those trying times. 

“I’d like to thank everyone who came out last night to the swearing in ceremony,” Aron Wieder tells Rockland Daily. “We had a beautiful turnout and several hundred people in attendance. It was extremely humbling and gratifying to be sworn in by the District Attorney Tom Walsh and have Attorney General Letitia James be the keynote speaker. It was a very special night personally as well, as I had five generations of my family in attendance, from my grandmother, who is a Holocaust survivor, to my daughter and grandchild. I look forward to serving my constituents and thank everyone for their support.”
